Karndean Designflooring at designEX 2013
designEX is a platform to share inspiration and innovation and this year Karndean Designflooring exhibited at the popular expo to illustrate the design possibilities of its Flotex sheet floor coverings, LooseLay and Designflooring products.
designEX took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from Thursday 30 May to Saturday 1 June.
Showcasing the Flotex Sottsass collection in a uniquely creative way, the Karndean stand was framed by an oversized image of Ettore Sottsass printed onto the Flotex product to demonstrate the customisable design possibilities that can be created with Flotex. Ettore Sottsass was the head of Italian design studio, Sottsass Associati, who along with his partner and head of studio, Christopher Redfern, created the four contemporary designs that comprise the high-definition Flotex Sottsass collection.
Flotex combines all the hard wearing and durable characteristics of a resilient floor with the quality, warmth and comfort of a carpet. The wide range of colours and designs allows you to combine perfectly with other floors whilst making that all important signature statement. Furthermore its hygienic properties and its Santized® treatment backing ensure that healthcare, education and aged care environments stay clean. Karndean Designflooring is the exclusive distributor of Forbo’s Flotex sheet floor coverings in Australia and New Zealand.
Karndean also provided the flooring – LooseLay Merbau – for the Ketel One Bar at designEX which was located directly opposite its stand and proved to be the place to be for visitors to the expo.
Karndean LooseLay is an award winning, glueless version of Designflooring. As its name suggests, LooseLay works like free lay carpet tiles, using a combination of suction and friction to secure the product to the floor below.
In addition to these displays, Karndean’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Alex Stock presented in the designEX Seminar Series speaking about the progress of vinyl plank and tile designflooring. His presentation explained the specification of the contemporary material as an alternative to conventional stone and timber products, from the perspective of the interior designer and architect.
