#desertfire

It was hot. It was always hot in the desert, but today seemed especially bad, the temperature climbing swiftly before the sun had even fully cleared the horizon. Captain Maes Hughes glowered absently in its general direction, throwing his tan trenchcoat over his shoulders as he moved through the camp. Usually he'd not even have his uniform tunic on, preferring to wear just the undershirt with the sleeves rolled up, but today he was on business.

He scanned the milling soldiers as he walked, looking for one face in particular. It would be easily recognizeable for him; he'd know Roy Mustang just by the back of his head, so scanning was all he really needed to do. Usually he'd be seeking Roy out to enjoy a lukewarm beer or just talk, but not today. Today the Flame Alchemist had orders, and Hughes had been the one chosen to inform him of this.
