Another Pokemon headcanon
Because they are probably one of the most peaceful water type Pokemon,Magikarp are very popular with aquariums and fish enthusiasts. This has led to the creation of a wide range of Magikarp breeds and color variants made exclusively for the aquarium trade. Despite these varieties being pretty common, It's extremely rare to see a "fancy" Gyarados. This is mainly because trainers tend to assert that fancy Magikarp are even more useless than the standard wild caught variety, as well as the fact that many of the desirable traits in fancy breeds translate into something very different when they evolve. A good example of this is the telescope variety of Magikarp, which pretty much gives an otherwise intimidating Gyarados Googly eyes when it evolves.
