Kill me, Comrade.
"Kill me, Comrade."
Loki looked down into Azazel's tired eyes, his expression akin to shock and horror. He gripped his friend and lover's forearms, fingertips biting into the crimson flesh, and gave him a rough shake. "No!" he growled, blinking back the tears that flooded his green eyes. "Not after all we accomplished together. Look at your world, Azazel! Where naught but fire and ash existed, water and life now rule."
The Neyaphem let out a doleful laugh and shook his head. "For now, but the natural state of the Brimstone realm will slowly turn this oasis back to desert. The only way I can make this permanent is to draw out the dark energy and take it upon myself."
Loki groaned, holding tighter to Azazel. He lifted a hand and carded his fingers through his lover's dark hair, pleading with him silently. "That can't be the only way. Give me time to look for another way!"
"No, Comrade. This is the way it must be," he replied, brushing a thumb over Loki's quivering bottom lip. "Once I take in the dark energy, I will be in excruciating pain, dear one. Do me the honor of putting me out of my misery? ... You know I would not ask this of anyone but the person I love."
Tears fell freely from Loki's eyes as he committed every subtle nuance of Azazel's face to memory. "If that's what you want..." he murmured, leaning in and kissing the lips he had grown to love.
Azazel returned the kiss briefly before stepping a safe distance away from Loki. "Goodbye, Silvertongue. I shall save you a seat on the other side." The Neyaphem smiled brightly at the God as he brought his hands up and out. Azazel began chanting in a foreign tongue, black energy forming in his hands and inching up his arms. Slowly, the energy engulfed his torso and legs, and began creeping up his neck. After several minutes, Loki could no longer see Azazel, and wondered if it was safe for him to strike.
The energy around Azazel flickered and suddenly melted away into his flesh, making him throw back his head and howl, "NOW, SILVERTONGUE!"
Without a second thought, Loki withdrew his stave and buried the blade in Azazel's chest, killing him in one smooth motion. Before his eyes, the body of his lover fell away to ash at his feet.
