The attraction itself can be of any nature, sexual, romantic, platonic, or otherwise. It's also not exclusive to any specific type of preservation. Soft and hard mounts, pelt preservation, bone preservation, freeze dried specimens, and wet specimens all fall under the definition.

The grayish, topmost green stands for the attraction one feels towards taxidermy. The lightest green stand for the attraction to the process of taxidermy. The white represents attraction without harm and ethical practices of preservation. The lighter brown is for giving an animal life atter death, and the darker brown represents the death itself.

We understand that folk may have varying opinions on taxidermy, but the stance of this flag is that since taxidermy is more an animal product (like a leather jacket or a fur hat) than a real animal,and cannot be harmed,it is not harmful to act apon itself. Unless one is acting inappropriately with a corpse or body in the act of creating the taxidermy itself, we think you can engage with taxidermy and it is not pro-contact.

Having said that, both I and this flag are strictly anti-harmful contact, anti-xenosatanist, and anti-zeta.

l've actually been wanting to coin this for a looong while as it seems like the community's had a need for it. Dermaphilia seems to fall into a space of not-quite-necrophilla but not-quite-zoophillia either,so I just got tired of it and threw together a new term. Very excited to share and use this, so yippee?

Also super duper grateful that the community interacted with our polls as much as they did :] It really helped with narrowing down the flag's final design and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
