Daryl’s halfway out the door when the voice speaks up behind him. Eric, always quieter than Daryl gives him credit for.

Dawn’s just lighting the slats of the porch ahead of him. The house is warm at his back. And Aaron’s upstairs, still asleep in the bed Daryl’d just left him in. Left them both in, when he’d slipped out close to silent, gotten dressed and readied himself to run.

He lets his eyes sink shut for a long moment.

“Last night…” He can still feel it: the ghost of Eric’s hands on him, Aaron soothing his nerves away with sure kisses. The way they’d all moved against each other, sometimes clumsy, sometimes too careful or too desperate, but raw and real and the most wanted Daryl’s ever felt in his lifetime.

And then dawn’d crept in, and Daryl’d remembered where he stands.

He tilts his head half-toward Eric, not quite meeting his eyes.

“You ain’t got nothin’ to worry about. I know last night wasn’t about caring. That’s you two, what you got with each other. I was just along for the ride.”

He’s still not sure how it’d happened. How they’d slipped from dinner into drinking into slow, curious touches. Who’d moved first; how they’d found their way to the bed. How he’d let himself get pulled into this at all.

Or hell, maybe that’s the easy part. If he’s honest, he’s been wanting Aaron for ages, curious in ways his decency and his common sense hasn’t let him think about. If he’s honest he’s spent too damn long looking at the life these two have and wondering what it’d be like to have something like it. And Eric… Hell, if he’s honest he’d never thought of Eric that way ‘til last night. And now he can’t stop thinking about it.

He wets his lips, tightens his grip on the strap of his crossbow. Feels his body pushing to sway back inside and he can’t. That isn’t for him.

“Headin’ to Hilltop,” he decides, coming up with it as he says it. “Be by again in a couple months. Tell Aaron…” He bites his cheek, shakes his head. “Hell, it doesn’t matter. I’ll see you both when I get back.”

I’ve had this ask for months and I’m honestly flattered that anyone cared about my shitty children.

The black haired one is named Devin and he is fairly quiet and polite but underneath that breathes sarcasm, while the other is Eric who is the picture of an extrovert who loves fashion along with being a nonfunctional gay.
