*raises hand to further discussion* Okay so as much as i adore the idea of Will/hannibal, i have always felt from the very beginning that they were going to be doomed from the start. Everything that has occurred and affected them so far is pretty much structuring for a very tragic ending, and i honestly can't wait for it to happen. so to that "what is love to a cannibal?" question, i thought that as his greatest act of love and respect, Hannibal is going to eat Will at the end, BUT WHO KNOWS NOW
Oh yes, they’re obviously not gonna ride off into the sunset singing merry cannibal songs, no one wants that. I agree that he could want to kill and eat Will at some point (hopefully in season 65), but for now I really doubt he would. The whole honoring people by eating them was technically Hobbs’ modus operandi, while Hannibal is almost the opposite, he thinks of the people he eats as literal pigs/meat and isn’t honoring them by eating them. He eat them because they’re food to him.
The show has set up his killing and eating habits to only include the rude, with the exception of Miriam (and Tobias). She was a necessary kill to protect himself, but we can probably assume he ate her (and fed parts of her to Jack and in Alana’s beer because beer is people).
He seems to really want Will around, for now. Will isn’t a “pig” to him, far from it. The only way I could see him attempting to hurt Will would be to protect himself from getting caught. On the other hand, he does explicitly say that “I sincerely hope he [Will] catches the ripper”. But, he also seems to be grooming him into becoming a killer by pulling the strings to make him shoot Hobbs, making him admit he liked it and continously sending him into the arms of people he knows are killers. I’m just forever confused by the Lecter Logic™.
