the penguin and the crow

Eyes sparked with great curiosity as he noticed a somewhat familiar visage from across the path sitting there all by himself, a spark hidden by his mask to hide all and any malicious intentions he could possibly harbour.
While not too familiar, he would recognize the current generation of the House of the Hearth at any given opportunity; for the most part, because access to them has been denied by his oh so dear colleague. And this one in particular, the Doctor knew was of great importance. Aside from Arlecchino’s prized twins, of course. What a burden it must be for the young man to stand in the shadow of his siblings…
“My, my,” he mused as he approached him nonchalantly, a disarming smile on his lips as he tried to speak his words as caring and kind as possible, “it’s a pleasure to finally meet you in person.” The name, of course, had slipped him. After Arlecchino forbade him to come around or near the children, he had quickly lost interest in their affairs, yet kept an informed eye on them, just in case an opening presented itself.
With a careful glance to the side, he made sure that his ‘Father’ was indeed nowhere in sight; an encounter like this would be indeed quite bothersome.
“I have heard you are a tinkering genius, I am quite interested in your work.”
