β "I'm going to start taking notes on who is teaching her these things..."
βMaybe the world in their memories was but an afternoon forever bereft of blooming sunflowers.β
"Confirmation: many other inorganic life forms, intellitrons included, take myriad different forms, ranging from fully robotic to fully humanoid, nearly indistinguishable." While he does not know what organic life forms, particularly humans, look like in her world.
But he can sit across from her in pleasant conversation well enough. Or, pleasant enough - her expression, organic in many ways, seems cross enough.
"I myself am interested in the idea of such modifications, but I do find it to be amusing to watch organic life forms parse out my expressions."
@amemecanique
β "Intellitrons, huh? Like you? Not like I'm not used to seeing living tech like me around this city, but..." A robot was a robot. Sandrone did not like people. Sandrone did like robots. She'd started this conversation herself out of her own curiosity, but aside from his manner of speech he sounded almost infuriatingly human. "I'm surprised to see one with a similar design philosophy to what my creator employed. Not internally, but aesthetically."
Obviously that aesthetic sense wasn't on display with the body she had been created. Pulonia was a different story, however.
"Well. Where I come from, I'm about as state-of-the-art as you can get, at least in the field of sentient robotics. To the point that I'm joyfully unique." Joyfully in the sense that she'd never have to worry about sharing that accolade. "Obviously my world isn't as technologically advanced as wherever you come from though."
IT IS A STRANGE FEELING TO SIT HERE THIS TIME. the sound of her breathing seems louder than usual with every breath in she takes, no sound of song or idle chatter escaping her lips. darkened tresses pool around her, knees pulled in toward her chest as she takes up the smallest portion of the marionette's bed, folded in on herself as if it were to minimize any chance of breaking that very quietude she had been insisted on giving her. a finger traces atop the blanket, swirling around a sole petal that has fallen upon it, another soon falling beside it.
for, where the whitened mask rests upon the goddess' face, a myriad of flowers blossom forth from between its holes, alternating between a cycle of bloom and withering. they had appeared so suddenly, it took her little time to find her friend to question what was happening, trusting that, if anyone could, it would be her. but each second that passes, it grows harder to keep her silence in thanks to the myriad of secrets she carries with her in respect and, truthfully, in a sense of grief. she awkwardly shifts in place as a few more sprout upon fair skin with these passing thoughts.
β SandroneδΈ? β she calls to her, lifting her head a little to turn where the harbinger sits at her desk in focus. β Have you found anything out about them yet? β ... this had been the second time she asked that question within the last five minutes.
@amemecanique
β Botany was not a field that Sandrone had much experience in. She understood the fundamentals, at least enough to do a bit of rudimentary guesswork, but that wasn't enough to piece together the nature of the flower. Even though she had a petal and some of its pollen underneath the lens of a microscope on top of her desk. This scene would almost have been nostalgic if not for that, because if you replaced the microscope with some machinery then it had been a common sight back when Columbina lived as a Harbinger.
Always in her space. Always waiting for her to finish. Always draped over her bed, just like that. It was nostalgic in a way that she secretly found pleasant. Which made the predicament all the more alarming, knowing she might not be able to keep it classified as a "secret".
Speaking of, Columbina's voice snapped her out of her focus. Sandrone bit her lower lip with annoyance briefly, but ended up turning her chair to glare at the goddess. "Let's put it this way. If I asked you to study one of my machines, would you be able to figure anything out? I'm totally clueless here!" That was likely a side effect of the flowers on display there. Sandrone would never admit she was "clueless" about something. The Marionette clenched her fists at what she'd let slip. "I mean...! UGH! Forget it!"
She use her desk to push off so that her chair rolled over to the side of the bed in a single motion without her needing to stand. "Why do you even care, Columbina? I figured you'd revel in the idea of trying to get me to speak on things I normally wouldn't. Could it be that you're trying to keep a secret from someone? Is that why you're holing up here with the expectation that I could somehow negate it?"

β "Tea." Sandrone groaned as she slid the teacup onto the table. Her table. How one of Arlecchino's children had found her home when she almost never ventured outside? She had no idea. But considering how she raised those of the House of the Hearth, she could only imagine it was one of the skills he had picked up.
"Don't tell me you've come all the way here just to catch up, Lyney? The Fatui aren't operational here, so you don't have any obligation to check up on me." She'd done a double check to make sure Lynette hadn't been with him when she'd opened the door. The last thing she needed was that cat destroying her oven or something.

"A traditionalist in the way of messages? I can keep that in mind for you if it makes things easier."
Though somehow Camilla had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she'd still take quite some time to respond. Not because it was difficult but rather to try and shake the former princess of her tail as easily and quickly as possible...
"Still do you live with anyone else? Or are you too part of the fate of roommates leaving just as quickly as the arrive." It was the one part of the city that still managed to get underneath Camilla's skin, no matter how long had passed.
"Of course you don't need to tell me if you don't want. I'm curious more then anything."
β Sandrone merely sighed. "Do whatever you want. Use the phone if it's an emergency. If it's not, that's when I'd prefer paper." If other Fatui had a way to contact her so efficiently back home, she didn't doubt that her line would have always been busy with stupid questions or complaints. When Camilla followed her inside, she flicked on the light to the living room.
She would not be brought into Sandrone's bedroom, and she had turned most of it into a workshop anyways.
"No one else lives here right now. There might have been someone before, but i never met them. Would have been a waste of time either way." Especially since they'd already left. "Suits me fine, though. I'd rather live by myself than with someone else." Columbina hadn't given her much of a choice back in the day though.
"Clockwork meka...? Oh! You must be from Teyvat, too, right? It's always so good to meet someone from the same world! And your clothing looks positively...Fontainian!"
"And yet I am not familiar with you in the slightest." Strange, considering her line of work. "How positively odd, don't you think?"
β "It took you that long to realize?" The knowledge gap between the two of them was greater than she had thought. It wasn't strange for people not to recognize The Marionette. She didn't often reveal herself. On the other hand, she kept up on whatever reports ended up in front of her. She was well aware of what had transpired in Fontaine during the Traveler's little adventure there.
"I'd put on a show and point out that you're speaking to one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, but no one else appears to respect that title in this city so I can't imagine you would either, Navia Caspar of Spina Di Rosula."
why was miss harbinger still bringing up the fact she was such?? were they stating their professions?? was there something she was missing?? her brother always said that thing went over her head so ... maybe it was like that?? normally , he'd be here to explain things for her but ... he wasn't. she was going to have to figure this out herself.
or try. trying is the more reasonable outcome.
β mhm. i know. brother warned me about harbingers. said when seeing one , i should run. that , they were dangerous. but ... you haven't done anything yet. β a blink , a flick of an ear. β in fact , you're warning me. wouldn't that make you a nice person instead?? β
( artemista was normally a good judge of character , of knowing when to flee. her instincts always told her to run. but she has yet to feel that pickle down her spine )
β "You're not going to get special favours just because you're trying to cozy up to me you know." To Sandrone, this was the only reason she could imagine someone would be this persistent when it came to being in her space. In that sense, this girl reminded her a little bit of Columbina and her insistence on hanging about even though the Marionette had plainly expressed her distaste towards the company.
Normally she'd just use Pulonia to remove someone this incessant but she was sadly without a robot to do so with.
"Are you planning on running me in circles until I give up and let you hang around? I'm well aware of that tactic, you know!? So state what your intention is here. Don't you have any friends or anything to spend time with?"
β "I just overheard someone calling someone else "the goat"."
"Why in the world would you call someone a barn animal? They must be calling them daft."
who cares how good the tea is when thereβs no one around to drink it?

oh , artemista definitely figured out that the woman before her was a fatui harbinger , one of the people her brother had warned her about. but this woman was affiliated with katheryne , even looked like her. katheryne always treated her well back in mondstadt , that was enough for her to place the harbinger at just a few notches below the receptionist in her list of ... people.
she really should rename that list , huh??
tail flicked slightly before the katzlein nodded , an answer to the other's ... question wasn't correct nor incorrect. β i know. you look like katheryne. or , she looks like you?? β that would make this woman katheryne's mother , correct?? when meeting a parent , how should she proceed?? β katheryne's always looked after my brother and i when we first became adventurers so uhm ... thank you?? for creating her?? β
β "I... would actually say that we don't resemble each other at all." Was this kid seeing something that she wasn't? She had intentionally designed the Katherynes to avoid the possibility of the guild tracing them back to her, else she would lose her ability to spy on them whenever it fancied her. Then again, she had only really been using them to keep track of the Traveler these days anyways.
And now she was being thanked for it???
"Well, their affairs aren't mine beyond a select few. It isn't like I had anything to do with that one helping you or anything, it was just a coincidence. I'm a Harbinger, remember? Har-bing-er! Not someone to cozy up to."
"Oh please. Unannounced? I doubt you would've picked up the phone even if I did try to call you." Still it was "pleasant" to see that Sandrome had not changed a single day since arriving here. Although Camilla did wish she did treat her somewhat better considering the attempt at friendship in the first place...
"Now why would I try to get under your skin? And through knocking on your door of all things? Surely you and I both know there are far better methods then trying to visit."
β "Very astute of you. I'm not a fan of phone calls. You could try communicating with letters if you'd like?" They were preferable because she didn't need to worry about responding immediately. She could let a letter sit on her desk for a week before replying at her own leisure. She'd use a communication device when it suited her, but it hardly ever did.
"Either way, you've already made the effort of coming all the way here, and I'm not a poor host. So, come in I suppose." It was easier to just gloss over Camilla's rebuttal than to go back and forth on it.
