Coming soon for Autumn/Winter 2013. Barbour are launching a new sub-collection to their Heritage range called Dept B. Department B was originally an area in Barbour's South Shields factory dedicated to customisation where customers would order extra pockets or reinforcements for their Barbour jackets. Dept B focuses on these details and draws from the archives to produce and intricately tailored range.

The Barbour Dept B Commander Jacket, having been displayed to the world's leading buyers during Berlin fashion week in January of this year, was heralded as one of the most wanted pieces of outer wear at the show.

The Commander Jacket's design is inspired by the Sports Jacket (originally designed by Tokihito Yoshida for the Barbour Beacon Heritage To Ki To range) which became highly desirable following its appearance in last year's ultra-stylish James Bond film, Skyfall. Some lucky recipients and purchasers of this original garment, which was sold via eight or so forward thinking specialists in the UK at the end of 2012, are understood to have seal-wrapped them for future investment. The same people see themselves buying into this second incarnation as a similar opportunity, wearing the new Barbour Dept B Commander Jacket on a daily basis, and therefore safeguarding their original Beacon Heritage To Ki To Sports Jacket as a future investment and rare James Bond memorabilia.

There will be few stockists having access to this garment from around mid August. Philip Browne menswear will be one of those stockists.
