There’s a rock in my shoe that I can’t get out.
It’s been there since I was a kid.
It isn’t bad enough where I can’t walk, but it slows me down. It makes me stop sometimes and wonder how long I can keep walking with this rock digging into my sole.
Sometimes things get piled up on my shoulders and it makes that rock feel like it’s digging in deeper than ever, but I have to keep walking. By the time this weight is lifted off my shoulders, my foot is torn up and I have to take some time to rest.
People see my rest and tell me that it should be easier now, there’s less weight on my shoulders so things should be better now. They don’t know that my foot is still bleeding in my shoe because I don’t show them. Even if I did show them, they would only see the wound and not the rock that caused it.
People can’t understand what they can’t see.
So I just smile and get up.
