An update on my Cultural Exchanges content
Hi! As the 2015 cultural exchanges festival reaches it's end, I figured now is the time to discuss my reviews of the events I attended. Firstly, my piece on the Graham Joyce tribute is featured below & on The Demon Crew Review, and I'm grateful for the wonderful comments people have given on my twitter. It was a good start, but there's more to come.
Starting with my review of David Kynaston 'In Conversation', I'll be posting reviews from Friday evening. Aside from Kynaston, I'll be writing about Peter Hughes' readings from his modern Petrarch project and the "Make Leicester British" panel. The latter is promising to be a hilarious final romp before the festival comes to a close, for the possibility of heckling from a DMU lecturer if nothing else! Expect those two over the weekend.
Finally, I want to make an apology. I promised to review Carol Ann Duffy's reading, as well as The Monochrome Spy. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get tickets to see Duffy, which is a shame as I heard it lived up to all expectations. Don't despair though, some of my fellow students have written excellent reviews of the event on The Demon Crew Review, so there's something.Â
As for the Monochrome Spy, this was my own fault. See there's this video game, called Darkest Dungeon. It's available on Steam Early Access and let's just say it's bloody addictive! To cut a long story short, I stayed up until six in the morning delving into it's macabre wonderfulness, and despite the efforts of the good creators of Monster energy drinks, I passed out. By the time I woke up it was quarter to six in the evening, and I almost missed David Kynaston. So my apologies for that.
Aside from all that, here's a link to The Demon Crew Review, where all these things are housed:Â http://demoncrewreview.blogspot.co.uk/
