"You're so obsessed with me! I knew you'd need me here to be
"Your unwilling audience when you lose your marbles in Act Three!"
Taking my last chance to post this before the new episodes come out and it's likely jossed with the arrival of new content! I'd like to thank Alastor for his quote above confirming that Vox will definitely be going feral in Act Three of this season - and I am crossing my fingers that this means he will get a full demonic form! There are honestly so many directions this could go, but I've taken Alastor's demonic form as a template when constructing mine - and honestly, I find Alastor's demon form sadly...lacking. He gets larger, his antlers grow, his eyes change, and his neck lengthens, and...that's it? Maybe in later seasons we'll see something additional and more creative, but since he's the best example we have for a full demon form so far, I've used that when thinking of what Vox could become.
Of course, I couldn't resist going a little further! (And if the show wants to go further still, I certainly won't complain! C'mon, fuck him up)
Vox seems to be at his best and most reasonable when his eyes take up a large portion of his screen. Therefore, for this demonic form, we are doing the inverse of that, and making his mouth take up - well, ALL of his screen! Ironically, I don't see him being very loquacious in this form - Vox losing his voice when he's overtaken by the negative feelings that bring this form on is a delicious concept, and one that I think fits the lesson of the Tower of Babel story well.
I didn't want to lose Vox's shark/sea motif either. In the Bible, giant sea creatures like Leviathan are associated with envy, and Helluva Boss takes from this to make the Envy Ring in Hell mostly dominated by sea creature-based demons. Vox does seem deeply envious of others who have what he doesn't, so in the spirit of letting his sin show, I bound his legs into a tail with his cables. He'd probably appreciate it, if he were more aware of himself in this form!
One thing I really hope to see from the way Vox's demon form is incorporated into the story is a degree of loss of control. Vox is obsessed with control and I like the idea that because of this, he adamantly avoids using his demon form as it doesn't present the image he wants. It's not smooth or pleasant - it's him at his ugliest, monstrous and frightening, and he doesn't like how he looks in it. And neither does anyone else.
