Like picking apart an invention to figure out how it works, he too can pick apart a language barrier and figure out how to communicate. He may be able to communicate with just a small handful of words at first, being able to communicate at the skill level of a child, but give him time to practice and adjust and you could hold intelligent conversations with him.
