Redraw to mark one year of the piece that started it all (and cursed me /j)

The AU that started as a joke turned out to be an output for all my grief and yearning

And it continues to be that outlet for me, thank you to everyone that has stood by this long so far 🫶

After the strange encounter that day, Maria spends the rest of the afternoon in avoidance of Father Miguel.

Not entirely sure why. Perhaps she might have known in herself that whatever fleeting thought she had at the moment was something she cannot even entertain.

Yet on the kitchen table the priest finds another freshly baked treat signed with her name.

Unbeknownst to Maria, that afternoon as she left abruptly he regrets that he might have pushed it too far. And now his intention was all too abvious to her.

He finally catches her the following day, in her routine moment of solace by the votive candles, gazing at a flickering flame in hopes her thoughts reach her departed husband. In her vulnerable state she is left to accept his company.

Was her avoidance of him suspicious? Too obvious?

He approaches her- a cue that they've both familiarized themselves with, to let her finish her prayers before snuffing the candles.

Outside, another storm brews.
