“can i share something with you? this is my first piece. from years ago.” a song he made for haestus. “you’d be the first and only to listen to it.” eunsoo drew out his phone, then hooked earphones to it. he offered the earphones to haestus before hitting play. some of the stars in the sky above him blinked erratically to reflect how nervous he was. but then he felt warmth from above. eunsoo looked up to see a few steadily shining stars. it must be sejin...maybe even jaehwa. sending their best wishes. when eunsoo looked down and gazed at haestus, he knew he was going to fade. that was okay. he held no regrets. it was an honor to fall from the skies for him.

“you just need another drink,” he said while refilling aeolus’ shot glass. “helps with matters of the heart,” the man added with a sage nod before breaking out into a grin. “life’s too short, aeolus. for a soul like yours-- love will find you. trust me.” he busied himself with refilling his own glass, then downing it in one go. it kept him from giving away anything from his end about his own heartache. jaehwa was probably the worst fallen star in existence. he fell to this planet to protect and take care of aeolus. except here he was guiding aeolus through his own methods of dealing with troubling emotions. salt added to the wound was how jaehwa already felt himself feeling for aeolus. but he wouldn’t. he refused. it wasn’t as if jaehwa was all that thrilled about being on earth. but he wasn’t going to fade away like sejin was inevitably going to. he didn’t want to think about sejin’s end. why the fuck did he have to do something so fucking stupid and fall for a human? not to mention one who was most likely never going to love him back? jaehwa wasn’t going to go there. anyways-- what aeolus needed right now was a friend. not another walking mess confessing his feelings for the man. “what kind of love do you want?” he asked, curious. “if you could have any kind of love in the universe.”

eunsoo was terrified for him. if a star fell in love with a human, and the love wasn’t reciprocated within a period of time...then that star would die. even today when sejin woke up, he saw the sunlight rays shining through his semi-transparent hand before it solidified again. the man was already beginning to fade. only the human that wished upon him -- apollo -- and other fallen stars would be able to see him fading. eunsoo broke down into tears the other day when he saw right through sejin’s shoulder for a few seconds. sejin just held the other star, reassuring him that everything was going to be alright. sejin had already accepted that it would only be a matter of time before he disappeared all together. he wouldn’t share this with apollo. the young man deserved someone better than him. anyways-- sejin knew that apollo wasn’t romantically interested. they’ve been physically intimate, but given apollo’s fame, there was resistance of anything remotely close to love. sejin’s time here was limited, so he would make sure not to waste any of it. he fell from the sky to find apollo, to protect him, and to make him happy. “you were brilliant tonight,” he murmured before leaning in to kiss him again. of all places, they were in apollo’s dressing room after a show. it was risky, but they made sure the door was locked. “i’m so proud of you.”
