am I the only one who got confused watching Encanto I mean don't get me wrong it was charming and the characters were very good but the pacing utterly whiplashed me? At the start its suddenly OH ALL THESE CHARACTERS AND THERE'S POWERS AND THE HOUSE IS ALIVE FOR SOME REASON and then it slows down considerably in pace and then suddenly there's songs about how the sisters are feeling and the magic candle exists for some reason like the tangled flower does but?? Being Latina myself, I enjoyed the portrayal of the dynamics of the characters with each other it was well done but I feel like I didn't get enough dynamics? I wanted to kind of slow down around the actual characters and get to know some context a bit better? I feel the fandom gave more cohesive context to events better than the movie did? Like, the whole thing about "it looks like it's gonna rain" with Bruno was a huge misunderstanding that seemed to leave a mark all these years but then it was just resolved in song REAL QUICK? I feel like they sped up on things they needed to spend more time on and slowed down on things that didn't need as much time? I feel like because it was a lot of characters we didn't get to see the classic character dynamics of other movies like Moana or Tangled. I was kind of expecting her to bond with Bruno after being told all these years hes a bad influence and know a bit more of his side as they worked together but it seeeemed a lot shorter than I thought? And little bit more context and lore with the candle would have been great maybe? I dunno maybe its just me? Still a charming movie nonetheless.

3. again, the i think it's good writing with realistic things that actually happen in real life, even down to the goofy dad; but again, to each their own

edit: about the small world thing... i can totally confirm that the small is really freaking small 🤣 i moved to whole ass new country and everyone ik from these two separate worlds seems to know everyone else asfghjkldi fckn six degree of separation theory man, that shit's scary
