Alastair enjoyed spending time with his wife, something not all men of any era could say. He’d been able to marry for a love match, thanks to fortunately falling in love with the princess he’d helped save from an evil dragon and curse. It’d been a messy situation, and his fellow prince — Prince Philip of Lorraine — had passed during the fight with Maleficent, despite Alastair’s efforts. It had taken his dragon form fighting Maleficent’s dragon form for him to win, being a stronger dragon overall.

Then he’d buried Prince Philip and made a marker for his temporary grave, before riding his horse — Paleghast, a white stallion that looked rather ghostly with his majestic mane and powerful hooves — into the castle and giving Aurora “true love’s kiss”. Apparently, their time together as small children in the forest had stuck with her and she’d fallen for him all those years ago, so the kiss worked.
