deivi garcia, 21, made his major league debut (8.30) with catcher eric kratz, 40, in the last game of the subway series. deivi says he and kratz have been calling each other dad and son for as long as they’ve played together, and yesterday before warming up kratz was heard saying “I’m so excited to play catch with my son!” and was seen hugging deivi after his first couple innings
kratz later got choked up speaking on his relationship with deivi and other younger pitchers being a tenured catcher
