Booking your Event - Know Your Audience

Or to put that in perspective... If you spend a ton of $$$ to book a show and and no one is there to hear it...WHATS THE POINT!?!
When programming the entertainment portion of your major events (Spring Fest, Rush Week, Annual Corporate Retreat or a local music festival), it is extremely important to know your audience. Just because you love Megadeth and are in charge of the budget doesn't necessarily mean you should book them for your daughter's National Cheerleading Convention. Because in the end, you want people to come to your event, to enjoy your event and to grow the demand for the event to happen again (with a bigger budget and you still in charge)! So how do you figure out what your audience wants when factors like age, social media usage, buying habits, taste, entertainment consumption, etc are part of the equation?
