I have a lot of issues with the Cats movie, most of which are fun things I actually laugh about, but one of the things that actually made me prickled was how they treated Bustopher Jones and Jennyanydots. In the musical Jennyanydots is praised for her hard work and charity, and Bustopher is seen as one of the most attractive, smart, and regal cats. The other cats praise and look up to them and consider their weight to be a positive thing, but in the movie they’re reduced to a joke and mocked for being overweight and clumsy (yes, in the musical they were a bit bumbly, but not nearly to the degree they had in the movie). I’m mad that one of the only positive representations we have of fat people got thrown out for cheap laughs (and idk about y’all, but the parts I did laugh at were not their scenes). Anyone else bothered by this?
My absolute favorite moment so far
