"Authority is a big word that troubles most people, especially in the form of the authorities. Yet the roots of authority go back to words like author, and augment and authentic. There can be forms of genuine authority that develop from authoring things and from being truly creative. When faced with the inevitable inequities of life, there is such a thing as authentic authority that is rooted not in the common, often confused world, but in something deeper, that is both more creative and more genuine. When people draw from the root of their deeper self, they become authentic and able to act with true originality, for the deep self is secretly connected to the origins of life." - Michael Meade
This is such a funny analogy about surface self and deep self.
But it explains both terms perfectly. So 😂

I’m music posting, I’m deep in my sorrows, deep in my Spotify playlists
I’m deep in my journal pages and deep in this puddle of my eyes gentle rain
I’m posting for u, I’m deep in regret, I’m deep in self doubt I’m deep in denial
I’m deep into u, into myself, deep into the sadness itself.

💀This is myself...so deeply!
"I look up at the sky, wondering if I'll catch a glimpse of kindness there, but I don't. All I see are indifferent summer clouds drifting over the Pacific. And they have nothing to say to me. Clouds are always taciturn. I probably shouldn't be looking up at them. What I should be looking at is inside of me. Like staring down into a deep well. Can I see kindness there? No, all I see is my own nature. My own individual, stubborn, uncooperative often self-centered nature that still doubts itself--that, when troubles occur, tries to find something funny, or something nearly funny, about the situation. I've carried this character around like an old suitcase, down a long, dusty path. I'm not carrying it because I like it. The contents are too heavy, and it looks crummy, fraying in spots. I've carried it with me because there was nothing else I was supposed to carry. Still, I guess I have grown attached to it. As you might expect."
