Saw something about that book 'Rainbow Fish', and it reminded me: Does anyone else remember the book being completely different?

I mean story wise, because I very clearly remember the first version of 'Rainbow Fish' being about a fish with pretty scales, but who wasn't yet called Rainbow Fish, because all his scales were those silver ones. The story plays out pretty similar, with him being a prideful d*ck-head, but when the other fish ask for one of his scales they offer him one of theirs in return. He calls them all ugly for this, which is why they ditch him, and makes it a bigger deal that he accepts their scales in return for his (which are given in apology). That's why he ends up called Rainbow Fish, because he gets a single scale from everyone else as he has a full-on Grinch-three-sizes moment.
