Well, his grandparents are dead, but when they were alive his relationship with his grandparents was great up until he came out as trans at the age of sixteen. They along with his parents disowned him. His grandparents grew up believing you were the gender you were born as and believing that being gay or bisexual was a sin and if you tried to change your gender it was a sin as well.

I first started roleplaying when I was eleven years old; I was writing before that, probably around nine or ten. It didn't take long for me to pick it up and I actually won a lot of awards in elementary school for my writing (at one point, I also had a local author want to meet up with my family and I for dinner, but I ended up not going because I wanted to surprise my parents and didn't tell them why, which I still sort of regret to this day; I still have the note she wrote for me in my memory box). The awards themselves were just the little cute, printed diplomas. We didn't have those kinds of programs in middle or high school, so I didn't get awards there, but I think I would have tried if we did.
