1. Introducing The People’s Graphic Design Archive! 2. A virtual archive built by everyone, about everyone, for everyone. 3. Image: Poster for “Anatomy of the Black Aesthetic: An Examination. The Archive aims to: > Expand graphic design history to uncover and include the works and histories of Black, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, women, and other historically marginalized designers and allied professionals. > Expand the canon beyond schools of design that are historically privileged and homogenizing. > Expand the definition of graphic design. > Preserve works that weren’t previously considered worthwhile. > Encourage The People to determine and save our collective history! 6. The Archive has been in the works since 2016. During this time, we’ve been looking for funds and partners to build the platform. In the wake of the murders of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and an overdue reckoning with white supremacy, we felt that the time was now to launch this cooperative platform in Notion...at least for the moment. 8.
