5. How do you know when you're finished writing a fic? At what point do you call it done?

Two ways! I've either planned out Point A to B. I'd say... for Be That (Some)body and haste and insanity and the overarching plots of Black Magic it's just... "we are done when we hit Point B" but there might be like... 25k in between those points. But we stuck the landing. It's done when that arc is finished.

or! they go on their own journey, and its done when it feels complete. It's hard to put to words but it's just... "I cannot beat this story out longer than necessary." I've done everything I can with this chapter or this fic. It's done. The characters have said what was needed. Maybe we just circled back to Point A, but the story is over. We are done. I cannot add anymore. Doing so would drag this story out so long it hurts it. If that makes sense. I wish I had something more profound it's just... it just feels right. I'll be honest, I'm horrid at endings. But I'm working on it. Usually it's just when the paint as dried, and painting over any further would ruin the other coats.

6. When do you title your fics? Before you write them? As you write them? While posting to AO3 and that "Work Title" field is staring at you?

It changes every time. Usually, it's the latter. I struggle with titling. I need something to click. As of late, it's been "what song hit the hardest while writing." Untied, Untied was a beautiful coincidence, as I'd gotten very into darkwave music while writing it. I wanted something desperate, chaotic, a little lonesome. And that song associated was! Perfect! take this pain, give it a name was written because I couldn't stop listening to Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy) and crying over adansey. So I just. Sat down and listened to it on an hour long loop until the damn fic finished. And I just... knew. Sometimes I beat my head against the keyboard like a ferret on stereoids because what do you fucking mean what the fuck don't make me title it and all i want to do is scream and now my biggest fic is named after a little mix song. i leaned into after a bit. but usually its music related. or i just think it's really funny. my kinktober fic was almost just bread? bred. i have a wip right now built around the title and tbh? big moment to just. know what it's called right out the gate. i'm so excited about it. it will be done in two years -_-
