Yeah so we failed at this event but we placed well in all our others and beat all of our personal records by 1-3 whole seconds in other games, plus received 1st in Horsemanship and 2nd in Pleasure, so all in all it was a very good day aside from eating dirt.

Dexter's first ride out of the pasture AND first time ever riding in a hackamore and he was a doll! He is usually such a crabby and bucky horse outside the pasture, but he loved romping through the snow banks and even meeting the cat! I am glad i gave the hackamore a shot, he behaved and rode better in it than any bit I've tried.

Dexter discovered that bucking, rearing, bolting, stopping and pitching fits will not get him out of a ride. Rolling over without warning? That worked.
Did I ever tell you guys about the time when I was at a show and I was riding through the gate with Dexter, getting all pumped to run, and he just stopped, squatted and started pissing right before the timing line. I sat there awkwardly for like 30 seconds having to do the "one second please" to the judges because my horse had to piss.

I really don't know why he doesn't hate me yet
Training Log 7-6-13
(yes it's 4am the next day but still I haven't slept so what's the difference)
Sorry (if anyone cares) that I haven't been on lately! I have in fact been riding but haven't done any training logs and I should feel bad. Besides today, I have been riding Dexter through barrels and finally encouraged him to get that "spark" back! I finally have fast runs again! And as for Cade, he is doing great. Going to that clinic really boosted both our confidences and we are finally able to walk/trot/canter without any major meltdowns from him!
As for today, I was home alone and therefor unable to ride. However, I made a makeshift "round pen" (which was actually square but whatever) and did some free longing.
Cade was first. We encountered and defeated the mighty and terrifying tarp, then made the tarp into a make-shift ditch which he couldn't have cared less about. Very good time :)
Dexter next. He was great as well! I wanted to work on small jumps, since he is my gaming horse and has problems with over-jumping in our Jumping Figure 8 pattern! He did great but I also realized how hilariously horrible his jumping form is!

Training log 4-29-13
(uploading a day late because I was tired last night!)
Well, I didn't have time to work Dexter AND Cade, so I just worked with Dexter instead and hopefully will work with Cade Monday or Tuesday.
We worked bareback so that I can work on getting more independent and balanced. I'm proud to say we went through walk, working and pleasure trot, canter and gallop without me holding on to anything. The only problem faced was that Dexter wanted to go back to the barn and I didn't! Which resulted in one fall... But, I hopped back up and got on, and we finished with a nice leisurely graze in the front yard. Tell you what, working out has definitely strengthened my legs!
