What if you are homeless? --you were utterly abandoned by your family and love ones? What if you are old and worrying for your next meal? Would you still smile? It's so hard, right? But at the tiring times of someone's life we'll definitely choose to love and to be loved as Saint John of the Cross said, 'In the twilight of life, God will not judge us on our earthly possessions and human successes, but on how well we have loved.' With a simple smile, I know it's love ... This is a story of love I wish to share. Let me encapsulate it with a quote from Mother Teresa. "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love." I've seen this amazing kind of love that emulated from our old folks today as we support the advocacy of Missionary of Charity - Tayuman who is taking care of lolos and lolas who were mostly from the streets (including bedridden and blind) I thought that it would be so hard to make them happy or even smile but I was wrong. As we started getting inside the area they are all smiling. They cheerfully greet each and everyone and enthusiastically had a chit-chat with us. They played games at their utmost and appreciated our efforts to spend time with them. Although they don't know us they still manage to smile. Then start off unveiling their stories and say their never ending thank yous. I just got home from the house of the elderlies bringing along with we a lite her at and the lessons I've learned for such a short time of encounter with them. Today, indeed, I learned that smile is our weapon to defeat indifference. A smile will make a connection no matter what generation you belong. At home, even if our mom and dad are still young and groovy, we must always give them a smile. Start a small talk and give a big hug. We must always treasure the time with them. That's more than enough. #justlove❤ #DecemberWarming (at Missionaries of Charity for Elderly People, Tayuman)
