“They started it.” Cuphead muttered, glowering over at the group of skeletons that had been teasing him all evening about his last encounter here. After a small altercation, Cuphead had been pulled out from the middle when they had teamed up to deliver a beat down, but mostly for their safety rather than his own. 

“I just wanted to enjoy my evenin’ but they wouldn’t leave me alone!”

“You look like you’re doing a lot better, Mr Devil!”

“It’s not much, but...” Mugman indicated to the opening in the top of his head which contained a clear liquid. It had the appearance of water but was glowing almost ethereally. “Hopefully it’ll stave off the symptoms for a bit.”

“So, what’s the deal with this whole thing, anyways? You cookin’ up some scheme, or is this actually nothin’ to do with you at all, ‘n karma finally caught up with ya?” Cuphead still didn’t trust The Devil completely, but had come with Mugman, to keep an eye on him and... as his brother had insisted, give guy the benefit of the doubt. 

Talk about being a literal Devil’s Advocate. 

“Excuse the... company. Let’s just say a spell of mine went kinda... awry.” Mugman said, nervously turning back to the group of clones that were following behind him. “I told them not to come but--!”

“We wanted to see Mr Devil!”

“Yeah! You shouldn’t be the only one who gets to see him!”
