Alright this is going to be a looong one so Iāll call myself debarment anon. So I started at york in F15 and after my first year at york I was put on academic warning. My dumb butt didnāt know that and took a class in S16 that I didnāt do well in which brought my gpa down more. Come F16 I find out Iām required to withdraw for a year. Fantastic! But I went with it and took that year off. Then in F17 I start again but now on debarment warning. I was originally suppose to take about 33 (1/?)
āDebarment anon. 33 credits. I completed 12 credits in F17. Then W18 starts and I had about 21 credits (one of my courses was a Y course) that I still had to complete. Then as we all know the strike started. And because I though the strike was too long I didnāt want to risk not knowing any material when we came back and dropped every single remaining course. I also didnāt take any summer courses. Now in present F18 Iām taking 15 credits but only 6 will be processed (2/?)ā
āDebarment anon. Only 6 credits will be processed (again Iām taking a 9 credit Y course). I guess my main question is that since ill only have completed 18 credits by the time this semester is over from my original debarment warning condition can york make a decision on my gpa and kick me out if my grades are too low? Or will they wait until next semester when Iāve reached the 24th credit. If I get even a response back to this you honestly wonāt know how grateful Iāll feel. Thank you so much!ā
Hi anon,
Most likely they will not, you should read your debarment warning letter conditions one more time though just to ensure you understand the requirements. Typically, they make the decision after you complete 24 credits. Also, just be aware that they count 24 attempted credits and not earned credits. So, for example, if you are taking 15 credits this semester, and you fail a 3 credit course so you donāt get credit for it, that course will still be counted towards your 24 credit attempt. Dropping courses on the otherhand has no impact on this.
Hope that helped, and good luck! You got this!
