Redemption: Death Workers
Death Workers are those employed by the Solar System's Death. They are responsible for collecting souls, sorting and processing them, and then sending them along to be scrubbed clean for reuse, thus removing any lingering memories or emotions tied to the previous life. From there, Death will pass on the souls to Life, where they will be fed into Life’s automated system and used for new creations. All offices are located in the Underworld, though some Death Workers may receive permission to reside on the Surface. The organization's hierarchy consists of the following:
Death
Reapers
Regional managers
Branch managers
Team supervisors
Ground level workers and staff
Reapers are ancient, independent workers of immense power who report directly to Death. Each reaper is formed after a mass extinction event. The excessive amounts of souls floating about results in junk data that cannot be processed properly. This junk data starts to group together, and after enough have gathered, a Reaper is born. The Reaper then takes on the appearance of the corpses of the creations made in the new era. The process takes several millenniums. For several billion years, Reapers were the only Death Workers before the residue left on souls from the body and mind grew too thick to handle by a small team alone. As such, Reapers have zero loyalties to the various factions of Death Workers.
The Surface is divided into various regions the size of continents that are then broken down into smaller and smaller sectors. With the introduction of religions among humans and other creations, Death Workers found it increasingly difficult to process souls without heavy pushback. Eventually, the system went through a major overhaul to address this situation. Within each region are branches dedicated to specific religions and beliefs, their size proportional to the practicing populations in the area. Souls processed at these locations undergo situations similar, but not exact, to what they believe before they are eventually passed on to be wiped clean and reused. As a religion dies out, the branch dedicated to it will slowly downsize to a skeleton (ha) crew before shutting down. All workers are redistributed to other branches or given incentives to retire.
While ground level Death Workers can consist of former Surface citizens, including humans, the average Death Worker is a demon, a term applied to any creation natural to the Underworld. Life in the Underworld is rough with rampant corruption and poverty in abundant supply, but those employed by Death receive many employee benefits, such as healthcare, housing, access to free education, and pensions. These benefits also apply to any spouses and dependants. The downside is that Death Workers are contractually obligated to work until retirement with no options to quit. If fired, they receive zero benefits. Still, many find it preferable to most alternatives in the Underworld. As for those from the Surface, they often find themselves subjected to a workplace bias that favors demons over everyone else. Rising up in rank is incredibly difficult, with it being near impossible to be promoted to a branch manager.

Death related Netflix (non-horror)
(Note: All these have a tw for discussion of death obviously, but I have marked additional tw when needed. But this is based on the best of my recollection and I apologize if I missed any.)
For all my death workers and witches out there that like to unwind with something related to the process of death but may not enjoy horror movies (or don’t feel like watching one right now) here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:
The Staircase
The Keepers (tw: sexual assault)
Coco
Schindler’s List (tw: Holocaust)
Death by Magic
To the Bone (tw: intense ED talk and tw: miscarriage)
The Lovely Bones (tw: sexual assault)
Shaun of the Dead (tw: comedic-style gore)
The Voices (tw: some comedic gore- like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil this is a humorous horror satire)
Patton Oswalt: Annihilation
Sunshine Cleaning (tw: suicide discussion)
The Good Place
Heathers
Cloud Atlas
Moon
Please feel free to add on recommendations you have that fit the bill that I might have missed!
