Dear 6th June 2019
Let’s talk about my childhood. Let’s talk about the empty promises that filled my childhood, the lies I was told and the truths I was held back from even though I would understand.
I understand why that was the case, but I don’t understand how to be the bigger person. How do I be the bigger person when a giant loom of the uncertainty of my safety and a great cloud of grey floating above my head? When I won’t be treated as an equal. Honestly, my biggest concern is my safety. I don’t know what to expect if I come out with my truth, or even begin to open up. I don’t know what will happen in the future, no one knows. But I don’t know how to express my fear of the unknown.
Why do I feel like if I open my true self...I will be gone...I will be...dealt with. Why can’t I say the words?
Why do I feel fear of physical pain? Was I physically threatened as a child? I know I’ve been emotionally threatened, that I’m sure. Those words follow my shadow. But why does my right arm flinch with terror, the same way I did with him when I think about facing my fears. What really happened in my past, that caused me to be like this. So fearful of the future.
Goodnight Universe

I’m pretty sure that if anyone tries to bother me, at ALL, on Sunday that violence will ensue!!
National DEAR Day Is Going to the Dogs!
At Read to Rover this past weekend Southeast kids dropped everything and read to our very own Clifford!
In addition to reading stories to Clifford, kids also had the opportunity to decorate their own puppy dog. The puppies were collected and are now hanging in the Children's Department as part of our "Clever Canines" book display.
In honor of DEAR Day, I had some really cool prizes to give out - and lucky for all who attended Read to Rover, I had enough for everyone!
Read to Rover is truly an experience for the whole family - join us on Saturday, April 26 @ 11am when the dogs will enter the building once again.
