canon dean is aquarius, but i’m like 800% certain that the show creators did Not choose his date of birth with star signs in mind. so i changed it. i can’t remember what i decided his Actual Birthday was (i have it written down somewhere) but it’s somewhere in the scorpio section of the year (because dean is honestly such a scorpio like??? it fits so well)

dean has a wholly unhealthy anger management strategy; it stemmed from when he was a child. he was never in a position to be able to have raging tantrums and get stroppy and lie and slam his door as a kid --- he had to think about what dad wanted and what sam needed. it’s not that dean never GOT angry (and i bet, through his hormonal teenage years, sometimes he wanted to punch a hole through the wall with just how mad he felt inside at times, even from the smallest of things) it’s just that he wasn’t able to express this freely, and he wasn’t able to express this healthily. for a child, their family is usually their number one output of rage. dean had to place it anywhere BUT there --- so he did, through fist fights at school and (later on) the ferocity of a hunt.

occasionally he’d slip up and have a proper fight with sam, but it was uncommon, especially as they grew older and dean became more of a parent than a brother. john, he never angered, not for the fear of his father’s retaliation but the fear of his disappointment in dean’s disobedience. 

besides, sam and john fought enough already. dean wasn’t about to be the one to complicate things further, and certainly not because of his petty, selfish distress. holding back often increased the violent behavior when it did spill out; when someone made fun of him for being the new kid at school, he didn’t merely shove them, he threw them on the ground, he punched them, he shoved them against the lockers and put his fist in their stomach.

but tbh i kinda wanna scrap the aquarius sun idea for dean altogether?? i mean let’s be real do you really think eric kripke gave dean the birthday 24th january because he really thought he was a sparkling aquarius??
