Uncovered-"How to Deal With Disappointment"
What do you do with disappoinments? Get over it! Life’s biggest opportunities aren’t always obvious. If you can’t get in, Go up! If you can’t get through ON THIS LEVEL, Go up to a HIGHER LEVEL. Sometimes the reason God allows you to be restricted is because you are at a wrong door. #expectationsvsreality #dealingwithdisappointment #breakfastclub #unovgroup #earlyrisers #sharedlives
The kids brought Machi Koro to play while I scooted out to get milk to go with their Honey Stars and Milo balls. Minor crisis took place when Asher refused to play Machi Koro and Shawna insisted on it. Pep Talk 1: I took Shawna into the room and asked her why she thought Asher didn't want to play Machi Koro. She didn't know. I said I think it's coz he hasn't ever won before, in all. The games of Machi Koro we have ever played. Said I wanted her to know this so that she can understand his behaviour, to empathise with him. And also that she should think about how she can help Asher gain confidence, and to be more understanding. Pep Talk 2: Asher's turn. I asked him why he didn't want to play, is it coz he hasn't won before? He said no. Says he doesn't like it that there is a lot of "stealing" in this game. I said, yes, I don't like it either. But there's a lot of things that can happen in real life that are like that too. People take things from you, or you have to pay a fine, or pay a fee. You need to learn how to deal with it, to cope. To get up and move on. In the end, I suggested that I convince his siblings to take away a particular card that's quite ominous - the TV Station (where people can possible take 5 coins from you) - out of the game. He said okay. I explained to Isaac and Shawna that Asher didn't like this game because it was too antagonistic - he didn't like it when he other players took money from him. Asher chipped in that this game was too luck-based. Isaac and I jumped in to say that you can mitigate the luck factor by building establishments of all sorts, so that you'd get some income from most dice throws. I told them about taking away the TV Stations and they agreed to the slight change in the game and promptly started the game. Glad to say that when I came back from my milk scoot, the game was well underway and no tantrums nor tears in sight. So I snapped this picture. #lifelessons #lifegoeson #dealingwithfailure #dealingwithdisappointment #boardgames #bgg #boardgamegeek #machikoro #takethatgames #tanfamilychronicles #GamesBondFamily
Dealing with disappointment
Have you ever felt so disappointed in yourself that you just gave up on the world? trusted someone and got let down, lost a close friend or didn't get that job you wanted or didn't pass your test. I'm sure some us have experienced something similar.
Remember,
You are the person that will get yourself where you want to be in life.
You are the one that has to push yourself when no else can.
Love yourself before you can let anyone else love you.
Push yourself, your never know where your limits will take you.
Losing a close friend: You need to remember what it was that made you best friends in the first place and the things you both went through. How he or she was there for you when no one else was or that he or she understood you. I bet you stumbled across an old picture just the other day and a random memory came. That memory made you laugh and smile or shed a tear. We tend to put our ego's over everything. Life is too short and God forbid that if anything was to happen to him or her, you would be regretting it for the rest of your life. What's the point of holding a grudge and what will you earn from it?
Lost trust in someone: Forgive, move on and be careful!
Not passing an exam: Argh we've all been through it. Pick yourself up and try again till you finally get it right! When you give up that's when you've failed but when you brush yourself off and stand tall that's when you've won. Keep going its never to late!
Didn't get the job you wanted: My mum always told me that everything happens for reason, and the reply I would give her was why!? she answered well darling because God has something better in-store for you and she was right. You all know the saying, " when one door closes another one opens" .
Dealing with negativity:
Count the good things that have happened in your life.
Play some feel good music.
Put on your best clothes and go out and enjoy yourself.
Put on a comedy sketch, laughter is the best feeling.
Tell yourself I'm alive and well, things could have been worse but thank God I'm not where I used to be.
