Weâre The Same, Arenât We? (Beruka & Camilla)
Beruka recognized the silent order and sat. As vulnerable as they still felt, they did want to make up for the mistake now that they were actually being given the chance. They did not make an immediate move.
âI donât know what I did wrong last time. Repeating a failed action without taking a different tact is a foolâs errand.â
Camilla wasnât in the mood to talk about it, so she reached for Berukaâs hand, putting it upon her thigh and patting it to ask it to stay. Then she leaned, kissing Berukaâs forehead with all the tenderness she could muster. She sighed a long breath against the uncovered skin.Â
âIt isnât like that,â she murmured, her gloved palm still on the back of Berukaâs hand, her lips brushing Berukaâs forehead as she spoke. âItâs... like a feeling.â
She dipped her head, tipping her head and hesitating, her eyelashes fluttering before her eyes closed and she put another short kiss on Berukaâs mouth. Once done, she broke away, still lingering close. Her free hand grasped a chunk of her own skirt and clamped down on it, and the one over Berukaâs hand gave it a gentle and yet desperate squeeze.
Camilla still felt foolish, opening up to somebody like that and then having them choke up right when all of her actions had done nothing but beg for Beruka to fill in the blanks. Beruka was usually so good at following instructions that Camilla hadnât really realized that there were such gaps in Berukaâs experience. She managed a small, fond smile at the thought. Sheâd enjoyed their company very much up til then.Â
âHow do you feel?â Camilla prompted.Â
