Temple Run - Imangi Studios, LLC: This is one of the few 3D games in this genre and it includes many features to help it stand strong against the competition. The premise here is that you are an adventurer who has stolen an ancient relic from a temple and are being chased by monkeys who want said relic back. The player has to navigate turns by swiping left or right, and jumps and slides by swiping up and down all while collecting coins and trying not to slow down so your pursuers don't catch up. Canabalt - Semi Secret Software, LLC: Oh, Canabalt, you hold a wonderful spot in my heart, after all, a boy never forgets his first. I remember your gorgeous, retro, 8-bit style and the old school black and white color pallet. Then there's the music, an amazingly appropriate techno soundtrack because, back then, we had to outrun a faceless alien invasion of epic proportion. We just ran and ran endlessly but to no avail, the outcome was the same every time; no matter how many rooftops we landed or boxes and debris we jumped, failure was assured. Now I've moved on to others but will always remember the sheer amount of joy I had with you. You were one of the best $3 dates of my life.

Dead Runner - Distinctive Developments Ltd: This game puts a twist on the genre by relocating you to a spooking forest and in first person perspective. The object is to run through the trees as fast and as long as you can until you run into one. The graphics are dark and impressive and the soundtrack consists of spooky ambient sounds. At the beginning of every attempt there is a highly discouraging message written on the screen such as "you will fail" as foreshadowing that you can never beat this game, and then, to top it all off, the one song soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal.

Tiny Wings - Andreas Illiger: In this great game you are a little bird whose wings are tiny and can't support his fat body. He dreams of flying so everyday when the sun comes up he uses the surrounding hills to slide down(pressing your finger on the screen) and launch himself up into the air(letting go of the screen). There are items to collect along the way which increase your score and your goal here is to see how many islands you can make it to before the sun goes down. The soundtrack is very laid back and the procedural generated graphics make the game look different every day that it's played.
