ㅤㅤHe's never liked wasting people's time— Correction: he's never liked wasting the time of those who were earnest with their intentions, the elderly man's hunched frame straightening up to stand from the barstool, grasping onto the lapels of his jacket to readjust the garment after what felt like an inordinate amount of time spent seated and talking ( the arcing tick of a clock shows it's well past last call ). As much as he hates the idea of incessantly prattling on with one complaint after another rolling from his tongue, it was nice to have an external ( & impartial ) party to act as a means of a soundboard, fingertips briefly tracing the edges of a well-worn paper coaster that cradles a tumbler whose circumference catches the light, its amber pools within diminished to scant dregs. It's very gradual, but Terry can't help the exceedingly amused smile that slowly curls over his lips, lines of wisdom deepening as blue eyes flash in the other man's direction, features rearranging as if genuinely contemplating the comment. There's a low hum of consideration...

if the worst part of living with denny is a neighbor going through a crisis it can't be too bad. robby's more than used to piece of shit neighbors, one of his old ones back at his mom's apartment used to get into a screaming match every saturday night like clockwork. "sounds like you a thrilling life you've got here." he can't bring himself to care for the mystery, but at least his comment is harmless compared to what he could've said.

It usually didn't faze him, but the youthful brunet became increasingly deflated as the looks of judgment were poised in his direction—

                    ❛   OH   ,   YOU   DON'T   HAVE   to   do   that    ―    ❜    theodosia   instinctively   starts   ,   the   need   to   maintain   her   manners   overruling   everything   else .     but   ,   then   ,   he's   already   doing   it   and   it's   really   something   so   simple   that   she   could   have   done   herself .     just   taking   the   dishes   from   dinner   to   the   kitchen .     the   help   has   the   day   off   ,   so   she   was   going   to   do   it   herself   and   save   the   dishes   for   later   tonight   or   tomorrow .     internally   ,   she   swoons   at   denny's   chivalry .     it's   very   rare   that   she   encounters   someone   like   him .     dragomir   used   to   be   that   way   ,   but   he'd   shifted   into   a   real   brute   after   she'd   married   him .     okay   ,   maybe   it's   less   internal   than   she   thought   because   she   can   feel   her   cheeks   flushing   and   a   smile   spreading   across   her   features   as   she   trails   along   behind   him   as   he   walks   through   the   dining   room   to   get   to   the   kitchen .     once   they   both   arrive   ,   she   opens   the   cupboard   to   grab   two   wine   glasses   and   a   corkscrew   before   crossing   to   the   island   where   a   bottle   of   wine   sits   unopened   ,    ❛   thank   you   ...   would   you   care   for   some   wine   ?   ❜

It wasn't a secret to anyone that had met Herrmann that he wore his emotions on his sleeve and he had a hard time keeping his mouth shut when he didn't agree with something. Neither of things were strengths for a good leader or self-proclaimed entrepreneur. After the closing of Molly's North, he needed to drum up further bolstering of Molly's... which meant a spot for promotion on a website of small businesses in Chicago.

The mere thought of intention behind the fire made Sylvie's stomach churn. Nobody from 51 had died, but the Chicago Fire Department had lost two firefighters and the horrors of the victims that Sylvie and the other medics had triaged had made sleeping for the last few days nearly impossible for her.  ❝ They're keeping it that tight-lipped since you weren't assigned this case? ❞ She really shouldn't be fishing for information when they both weren't working and after hearing that the suspicions of the firefighters were grounded, she almost wish she hadn't. It was hard for her to fathom that people could truly be that awful.
