FRANK:

i talked about this one a little in a diff post, where i said i wanted to talk about all of them,,,

the Chatter Telephone was a toy released in 1961, representing Frank's childishness. It's also a reference to the scariest movie that i've ever fucking watched, Skinamarink, and that scene in the movie that scared the Shit out of me.

The butcher's knife is a bit of a motif with Frank. It goes hand in hand with the repeated meat imagery with him. I'll be honest I don't yet want to get into the meaning. YET. YET!!!!!! JUST HOLD ONNNNN

POPPY:

Poppy's tea being replaced with a can of alcohol (Joy, if you look Real close at Poppy's render hehe) being her love of partying, and can also be seen as her issue with enabling some of the other neighbors.

The firework is for her tendency to be reckless and rash with her decisions.

HOWDY:

The float being replaced by the bottle of wine with a distinct price tag is Howdy's more expensive tastes or his want for a more upscale living.

The cigar is because Howdy regularly smokes, duh, but cigars are also an aristocratic symbol (depending on who you ask i suppose, lots of research that's too much to fit here)

And the nametag is obviously just a switch-out for DCH! Howdy's nametag, but I covered it with the flowers to make it seem like he cares less about it then the other items.

BARNABY:

because of the eye-direction switch thing, i realized Barnaby was looking down, so... book. :]

Also! note, his pipe having smoke instead of bubbles! This is more a wink-wink nudge-nudge about the DCH! au being an "adult parody". The pipes have Smoke instead of Bubbles.

EDDIE:

I didn't intend the cockroach to specifically replace the letters, but I think it's actually fitting!! The cockroach is because the post office is sort of Covered in them, this is partly why Doll is on his inspo list, besides her aloof demeanor her home is what i imagine the back room of the Post Office looks like.

And the flask is obviously his alcoholism, but it specifically replacing the watch represents his priorities; getting numb over doing his job.

JULIE:

The mallet is specifically a croquet mallet! Croquet is a very expensive, strict (AND BORING.) type of game, to parallel OG! Julie's love of games. So while OG! Julie would bend the rules to have the most fun, DCH! Julie would get frustrated if the rules aren't followed. I can see her throwing down the mallet in anger and storming off.
