It doesn't take long for Rick to find you, after all, you are just sitting on the steps of his apartment waiting for him. Upon seeing your soaked frame, Rick places his hands on his hips and lets out a sigh.

"What happened?" You look up at him through your running mascara, the nice dress you had put on no longer flowing around you, instead it clings to your skin like a second layer.

"He broke up with me," the words are soft and broken and Rick's heart aches. "And I know you told me he would or that he would break my heart, but I wasn't expecting it to hurt this bad," Rick plops down on the stair next to you and your head immediately falls to his shoulder as sobs rack through your shivering body. "I should have seen it coming. I should have know it was going to happen and I should not have gotten my hopes up that he was going to propose. I mean look at me, Ricky, I dressed up for him and now I'm a sopping mess," you choke out a sob as Rick wraps an arm around you and pulls you into his warm body, not minding the fact that you're getting him wet in the process.

"I'm sorry (Y/N). That guy's a real jerk. You should be with someone who respects you."

You look up from his shoulder and meet his soft hazel eyes. "And who would that be?"

Rick gulps as he starts to panic. Should he come out and admit it to you now? Should he admit that he's been crushing on you for the longest time or would it be insensitive after you just got dumped. How would you even respond? "Someone's out there for you, I know it."

Your heart shatters more. You loved your ex, but you are in love with Rick Flag and hearing him say 'someone' shatters your already broken heart more.

Rick can see the visible disappointment in your eyes but pushes the thought down. Now is not the time to admit his feelings. "How about we go inside and get warmed up?"

"Yeah, sounds good to me," you reply and he helps you stand up before leading you into his apartment.
