Hi I have a question. Where is the line between an AU and a crossover? Are there certain requirements for including characters from both fandoms, or does putting DC characters in an alternate setting count?
Hi! Putting DC characters in an alternate setting is absolutely fine, you don't have to include characters from another fandom. This event doesn't really differentiate between fandom AUs and crossovers. If you're using DC characters in a setting inspired by or taken from another fandom, that counts as a crossover because it combines elements from both worlds :)

DC Crossover Week is a fandom event celebrating creative works that merge the DC universe with characters, settings, or elements from non-DC media.
What does "crossover" mean?
A crossover is a fan-created work (like a fic, art, or video) that combines two or more different fandoms. For this event, that means blending the DC universe with non-DC media.
When does the event run?
DC Crossover Week will take place from August 24th to August 30th, 2026.
Do I need to sign up?
No sign-ups are needed! Just create something that fits at least one of the prompts. Tag your posts with #dccrossoverweek and #dccrossoverweek2026. We’ll be reblogging submissions during the event week. There will also be an AO3 collection you can post your work(s) to.
How are prompts picked?
Prompts are suggested by the participants. A few months before the event, we open submissions for prompt ideas. Once suggestions are collected, we hold a public poll. The prompts with the most votes are selected for the week.
What kinds of content and ships are allowed?
All kinds! Fanfic, fanart, fanvids, playlists, moodboards, and more are welcome. Works can be any rating (G to E), and all ships are allowed. Just be sure to use appropriate tags and content warnings.
Are we allowed to use bonus prompts instead of a certain days prompts?
Yes! Bonus prompts are exactly for that, you can substitute a bonus prompt for any daily prompt. They're meant to give extra flexibility and inspiration.
