I call this “swapping clothes”, doc gets silly and tries on Eclipse’s boots and shorts

Small WIP of a Mermaid AU I play with occasionally. Decided we needed Sun and Moon to be more sinister rather than just misunderstood-what if they couldn't decide if they wanted to eat or treat us? hm? How many times now had they lured you close to the water's edge?

You had nearly lost count, but it was enough times that this routine was becoming familiar…

From around your neck hung your cellphone, still sealed in its protective plastic case, music blaring at its highest volume. The song was clashing against the deeper notes threading through the morning air...disrupting the siren song before it could sink itself further into your head—

—just as your bare feet touched the freezing seawater.

The suddenness of it all startled you backward as the last of the pleasant fuzziness peeled itself from your thoughts.

"...No fair." The high-pitched, frustrated whine carried clearly over the music.

Chapter 53: Do da da

I promise that chapter title has meaning, I'm not just making up nonsense. Anyway, yippee! A whole new chapter and the end of the STAFF Bot mental breakdown arc! Isn't it nice to see things come together like this? In all seriousness, I really hope y'all enjoyed these last few chapters and are excited to see what comes next for all our favorite characters! I certainly have a lot of ideas for both continued story and silly one offs that I plan to use, so I hope y'all stick around for what's to come!

I do hope you enjoy this chapter and the, admittedly cheesy, ending I gave this whole sequence of events. I always planned for it to come to a happy conclusion, even if the idea of ending it with the death of the reader insert was soooooo tempting for the shock and pain it would cause alone lol. Staff coming in to ask Nix about something:

Behind him erupts an echoing chant of "6,7!!" from the children, shit eating grin hidden by Nix's mask as the staff is out of there as fast as possible
