Connor: Fall
The fall came swiftly like an unforeseen adversary. I now felt the small but rigid blusters of chilly air against my skin that would occur at random intervals. The air alone brought no shock or feelings of unpleasant nature but instead it was the first falling leaf that shook me to my core.
I did not realize, in my systematic ways of thought, that I was relating the falling of the leaf to my new companion that had taken refuge inside me. I could only watch in absolute horror as it fluttered aimlessly to the ground where it then rested in a silent and still death like state.
Something within me desperately wanted to reach out and re-attach the frail and fragile leaf back onto the tree...if only to reunite it with its former companions. At the same time I was met with a contradictory feeling....a want and, dare I say, desire to reach out and embrace the leaf. To take into my hands before it met its cruel fate of hitting the cold unforgiving ground. I wanted to keep the leaf from its own destiny as a selfish venture to suit my own wishes.
After careful analysis of my predicament I reached a final and definite solution...
...the leaf must not be allowed to touch the ground....and I would do everything in my power to make it so. I chose to ignore my selfishness and instead proceed to make decisions in consideration of the leaf.Â
I calmed my thoughts and continued to watch as other leaves continued to fall carried by the wind, some fell onto the surface of the water to be carried on to some unknown shore.... this was a path I had not predicted nor could I have pre-constructed....seeing this further provided reassurance that the leaf that did indeed hit the rock of the earth was a wasted effort as their were so many unseen futures that leaf could have come to have known. I came to a resolve....
After concreting the resolution I had come to, I again did something profoundly unchecked and irrational to my own programming...I preformed a diagnostic to locate the exact position of the bug in my system....
