Whether you were staring death in the face, being kissed by it in the slow filling black, or already lost to it, it wouldn’t have mattered. Death means nothing to her. Whatever burns brightest, hottest, in those she claims, she will use it, feed on it, and use every trick in the book to make you suffer through it. This isn’t salvation. This is worse than hell.

This is a constant game of cat and mouse. There isn't really a happy ending to be had here, in this odd world. The bloodlust grows stronger and the hopeful light grows dimmer. Sure, there's safety.

But what does it matter when the inevitable is already there, waiting?
