See, I missed DMing so hard that now I’m running a dnd game for 42 players. Sure I only get them 6 at a time, but it’s all one interconnected story. Essentially they split up into groups to tackle specific duties for the whole. They are currently rebuilding a nearly completely burned down, abandoned village they took from a bandit coalition they wiped off the map. Once they get to 5th level I’m going to be throwing in my modified bastion rules to apply to a whole village. As for now though they are leaving the more crafty builder types to build up home base while the others go explore, gather resources, and try to gain reputation with various factions and close by settlements. I’m basically making dnd an RTS game like old Warcraft/Starcraft or Age of Empires. It sounds daunting, and it kinda is I guess, but each session brings different challenges and types of play. Like let’s say I get the explorers one week, they pretty much are just mapping out the surrounding area in an ever growing radius. Marking points of interest for the other parties, including building a bestiary/encyclopedia of the local fauna and flora. So lots of wilderness encounters and skill checks. The diplomatic/merchant teams are more political intrigue and making deals to start up trade routes and alliances with other settlements. Which they’ll need since they will eventually not be able to escape the notice of the larger kingdoms and empires around them.
I have the oops all wizards group this Saturday that I need to figure out what they want. They’re the most aggro, but are easily distracted by mysteries or places of magical significance. Hopefully they’ve been paying attention to the clues I’ve been leaving about some dangerous places and don’t wander too far into them since level 3 wizards are squishy. It could be a real FAFO moment for them if they’re not careful.
Holy shit!! I commend you, also that is nuts lol! I wonder how you manage to handle so much info, but honestly, if it's fun, i can see it!! Wow! How often do you play? Do you do voice-sessions or is it more like text RP style? 👀
