can a prodigal son return if he never left: a memoir;  mom and dad are in in FEDERAL PRISON for embezzlement, fraud and coercion (ok and running a cult ✌️) so u know he’s got more issues than the mf new york times; spent the first 10 years living In A CuLt, then the next 8 with his grandparents who pretended exactly n o n e of that happened!!!   went to private school in heavenly hills to “””straighten him out”””” but ya boi stayed in trouble & in and out of rehab; monty is: disillusioned, excessive, believes life is meaningless!!  AND is bound and determined to make that everybody’s problem!!  living on the commune bc his trust fund doesn’t kick in if he’s dead before 30 (also everybody’s problem); runs an art gallery and occasionally sculpts.. mostly just tries very hard nOT to be looked at as the next leader of the manor despite the namesake and the jawline (while very much the de facto leader of the manor); not over that high school ride or die and about to make that everybody’s problem too

THE ST. JAMES FAMILY

the st. james family had originally moved to sunshine valley in the early 1900s and the generations that had followed mostly stayed within the town's limits since. they very much tried to maintain that white-picket fence all american family and of someone had went completely off the rails, well, they don't talk about. (like crazy uncle max who lives in miami).

dad worked for the town's police before retiring a few years ago and mom had always been a housewife, set on taking care of their 5 children and potentially spoiling them a bit too much. mom is definitely scarier than dad, although she never raised her voice at anyone, still there's just something about that calm look on her face that would send chills down your spine.

the siblings are pretty open, just remember to always come down for sunday's dinner (no, you can't run from it). also, gray was a terrible role model as the eldest brother and mom probably said, more than once, "see what he does? don't ever do that."

would love it if the last sib can be male!

Alexander was born and raised in Sunshine Valley, Ca. He was the kid who was more interested in comic books and conspiracy theories than he was interested in sleeping around or partying. His brother was more of the trouble-maker. Alexander mainly kept to himself and the few friends that he had. And as soon as he was given the opportunity to leave to go to college out of state to study journalism, he did. He then met his wife, who he loved very much, and they had two beautiful children together. His wife was loving and supported him even when his journalism work proved difficult. However, around three years ago, when they visited Alexander’s parents in Sunshine Valley for their annual Christmas visit, his wife ran away and hasn’t reached out to him or his family since. He doesn’t know if she’s alive or dead. The fact that he doesn’t know hurt Alex more than anything in his entire life and he had no idea what to do with himself. And instead of going back home to live in New York City, he and his kids stayed at his parents place where they began to start a new life. While working for the local paper isn’t as exciting as working in the city, it’s something to do and something that keeps him in town. 

wanted connections: 18 yo son or daughter, his siblings (but importantly a twin brother who was more of the troublemaker when they were younger. i have a headcanon that he’s a preacher now but he can totally be a teacher or anything at all that completely makes him look like a saint as an adult), best friend from childhood or high school, old friends who he’s close to (i kind of want a group of friends based off the losers from it but without the missing brother at a young age), someone he can move on with (though his wife running away makes him less likely to trust), some people interested in the spooky lore of town because alex has always been intrigued by it
