Fairy lights, black nail polish, sunrise, bands
(sorry this took literally a million yrs to reply to & thank u for the ask ♡!!!!)
fairy lights: if a crystal ball could tell you the truth about anything, what would you want to know?
on a personal level, probably what career path i am destined to take with the law degree i want to pursue- i’m currently really enraptured with work along the lines of title ix which is more civil rights based but a lot of my background is in criminal justice. on an intrinsic level, i would like to know how to be a better person in the lives of the people that i love
black nail polish: do you have a bucket list? if so, what are the top three things?
not an official bucket list but here are some off the top of my head: 1. get a law degree (can you tell i am in the process of studying to apply lol) 2. learn mandarin or cantonese 3. obtain a professorship
… sorry literally all of those are about education that’s like my only interest i guess lol
sunrise: pick a quote and describe what it means to you personally.
i was going to pick this quote by my favorite hindu swami that is actually my email footer right now, but in light of the world right now i’m going to go with something stephen colbert said the day after the orlando shooting in 2016.Â
“despair is a victory for hate.”
on a personal level, having just moved home after a very messy end with my americorps position & some personal challenges, in combination with trying to find another full-time job, this quote has helped me keep my chin up & keep putting one foot in front of the other & to remember that i have love & skills & help to give to others & can’t wallow in whatever stupid transitional stuff i’m experiencing right now. on a worldly level, it to me is a deeply profound reminder that in order for love & justice to prevail, actions & empathy must bloom where despair springs up
bands: talk about a song/band/lyric that has affected your life in some way.
my favorite song ever is “all these things that i’ve done” by the killers. i don’t know exactly how to talk about bc i’m already super emotional just thinking about it lol but i think it’s the closest any song has ever come to relaying the human experience. it talks about exhaustion, recognizing your individual faults & loses, wanting your life & work to mean something, & then at the tonal shift at the end about the will to keep going on despite being messy & choosing to live life & well, what could be more perfect than saying all of that in five minutes?
