   The feisty little fellow had somehow managed to find his way to the brunet’s secret stash of freshly baked poffins, very nearly depleting it— that is, before a pokéball was thrown in his direction, the creature’s frame promptly encapsulated with a satisfying click. ❝ — And I suppose we’re back to baking. ❞

Gemity jolts out of her daydream. A frown crawls onto her face. This was supposed to be them having a girls day to themselves. specially since she can finally get a break from the gremlin she called a younger brother. When she brought the warm cup of tea to her lips and sipped it, she found a sense of calm (other than when Elaine validated her feelings). Then she flicked her sea green eyes to her friend.

         ❛ I’m sorry to be such a Debby Downer. . . It’s supposed to be a day of fun, laughter and other fun things we can think of. I... I didn’t mean to laden you down with my burdens. ❜

Truth be told, she doesn’t have anyone to talk to. It would’ve been Fortia on the other end if she were still around. Maybe her eldest brother if he were alive? She knows Xipil isn’t too young to understand anything but she refuses to bring him into matters that doesn’t concern him. She wants him to live a life that. . . she never did.

         ❛ I know what would help—Gale and his jokes always put a smile on my face. Maybe they can put on a little show for us princesses—NO—QUEENS! ❜ she rubbed her hands together, smiling evilly. Obviously Gale was out of the equation of placing on embarrassing outfits. How she would revel in her brother’s temporary misery. 

   But she may receive it back tenfold. She has to rethink it.

She openly gawked. Gawked at the display of what could only be magic in a little boy’s fingers . Granted Ahiru was fairly little herself, she couldn’t help but be utterly astounded at his talent, her eyes never moving from him to the effervescent bloom that sprouted in his hands. It was as naturally as if by extension of himself.

❝ So you’re Gale? A-And you’re like a magician too?! I..I um, had no idea. That’s…that’s amazing. A-And you made it for me? ❞ Her soft voice heightened with surprised emotion; gentle and awed in pitch in its naturally sweet tone. 

Gentle blue eyes set on his own and her hands reached as if touching glass to close around the alight, flower of his own design . 

A present…for her. It was enough to color her cheeks with the sheer thoughtfulness of the gift. 

❝ I-I don’t know what to say. But I’m really…amazed. Shocked too! Whoa! Are you sure I can have this? Ack! Where will I put it? Can I put it in some kinda magic jar even if I don’t know any? The light that glows is so pretty . . ❞ Her own eyes softened, one hand gently folding over his on in silent and profoundly shown gratitude.

❝ Um, Gale? Thanks a lot. ❞ In a town where this lost, shining light had found herself alone, perhaps this blooming flower, and the creator, and the girl beside him, were slowly but surely proving that truth wrong on its head . 

( She wasn’t alone. Not as long as there was a friend to stand beside her. Not as long as beautiful-hearted people like Gale and Elaine were with her. )

And so Ahiru decided again, that she would remain strong, even lost - and took the flower with a smile that could have rivaled the sun on her freckled cheeks and smiling mouth.
