Obsession
âWhat are you planninâ to do when you catch up to her?â The impâs shrill voice grated on Nimnethâs last nerve. Gaktuk lounged on the velvet cushion, dropping a fig-like fruit into his huge mouth. Why were the mouths of imps so big, anyway?! âYou ever think about just letting it go?â
Oh, because they canât shut up. Nim stalked across the room; to her annoyance he followed. âI want her to feel the way I felt for years. Powerless. Controlled. Itâs her turn to be at my beck and call.â âIt doesnât work that way and you know it.â
Nimneth only just kept her hands from slamming on the table. She took a deep breath and held her tongueâs sharp knives. Little bastard never seemed to notice when she sliced him open with her words anyway. Asshole was too irritating to notice when heâd been filleted from stem to stern. âIt. Will. Be. Enough.â âNah. Itâll never be enough for your obsession. Got a little crush, dontcha?â He laughed. Nimneth might have held her tongue but they were in the âkitchenâ and there were literal knives aplenty.
The imp teleported out of the spot the knife flashed, only to appear on to the counter next to the succubus. âShe fixed up the wards, you know. Better than last time.â Gaktuk leaned back on his disproportionate hands, unruffled by her attempted violence. Nim looked at him through her lashes, taking deep breaths. âI have another job for you Tuk.â âJust one. Then Iâm done. Gonna retire to somewhere far far from Azeroth. Somewhere safer. Eat fruit and read trashy romance novels for the rest of my existence.â He laughed, ears flopping and sharp teeth flashing. âIf you knew what was good for you, youâd do that, too.â Her tail lashed. The imp could go drown himself for all she cared. Once this last job was done. âAll right, whatcha want for this final bit?â âBones. A lot of them.â
