Johnsonville hiding on the couch.
Much cuter and less stressful end of the day.
Rodg bounding through the woods moments before our scary experience.
End of the pics from our exciting walk.

Full text: danforthfleak.tumblr.com Crazy, crazy day. Rodgers and I went down to the coast for the day, and we took a nice, several mile walk. These pictures are from what was supposed to be the first half of that. We walked down to the boat ramp, hung out for a bit and then started to make our way back. I turned around after watching the boats come in and go out, and caught Rodg drinking river water when we were at the boat ramp, so I wasn’t terribly surprised when he barfed up all his breakfast after we had made it about 100 yards back toward the house. He then barfed two more times and then promptly sat down on the side of the road. This is not without precedent. When he was still very young, he did the same thing at the Minnehaha Dog Park in Minneapolis after drinking a large amount of river water. I didn’t immediately realize why he had barfed, so I ended up carrying him about a mile back to the truck, at which point he jumped up and was fine. So today I was not all that worried when he sat down. I found a spot on the side of the road, sat down myself and called him over by me, thinking that I would simply wait until he felt better and we could continue our walk. He got up and walked over to me, but I was not prepared for what happened next. When he got to me, he collapsed, rolling on to his side next to me. His eyes became glazed and distant, and his breathing became incredibly labored - he was almost gasping for air. His tongue was hanging out of his mouth, and his right eye closed completely. Needless to say. I totally freaked out. While holding his head and talking to him, I managed to call my aunt Anne at the river house and she jumped I her car to come collect us. I sat with Rodg, still talking to him and petting his head. Both of his eyes closed for a moment, and I really thought he was just going to die right there in front of me. But he reopened his eyes, and after about a minute, he slowly started to show signs of reversing. By the time Anne arrived, his breathing was less labored, but still could no stand and his eyes were still very distant. I moved him into the backseat, and we headed to the house to switch to my truck if we needed to head for a vet. By the time we got to the house, he was holding his own head up and wagging his tail. He jumped out of the car when I opened the door, but after a few steps, dropped down to the ground. After a few minutes, his breathing had completely recovered, he stood up and drank some water. He was muted for another few minutes, but was up and moving around well. He has always been very sensitive to feeling unwell, but I’ve never experienced anything like that before. Much later, I remembered that on the walk out, I thought I had caught him drinking from a scummy puddle of water in one of the ditches, but wasn’t sure. Obviously, I need to keep a better eye on the scoundrel. Back in Tallahassee - all is well. He’s had a big dinner and is back to making Johnsonville’s life as miserable as possible! My wonderful aunt Anne and cousins Kate and Meg have put up with a host of medical issues on this trip - kennel cough, infections and now dog emergency. All that is left is for me to need a ride in an ambulance! (Just kidding Fate... I’m not really tempting you. No, really. It’s just fine... Serriously!)
