This is why I don’t like the Kara/Mon-El karamel pairing.
Not only was its creation a cliche (which I blame on Calista Flockhart not willing to move to film so they rushed to change the story and moved James where he is in response) but it completely brings out the WORST side of Kara.
I mean yeah, we’ve seen her get all holier than thou before….but when it comes to Daxim and it’s denizens… Well, let’s be honest, we get to see just how prejudice, judgemental, and bigoted she can be. Worst part? It’s not treated as faults that need to be addressed or even acknowledged by the writers or the characters. It’s just not addressed and then we see Mon-El basically say she’s right because she’s a Kryptonian and apologize.
Not that this guy is innocent or anything. I’m just saying if you’re gonna bring up these flaws in your main character you need to address them as such. Not ignore them.
ETA: or have the bed guys bring it up and done in such a way it gets written off as "well if course that's what they say/think..."
"don't trust me!" Starr
Her words were too tender to be shouted over the cacophony of war. The tone she took was of no surprise to Daxim; she had a habit of acting angry and distant when her heart was hurt.
"Too late for that," Daxim laughed feebly, holding his side. Blue seeped between his digits, pouring over his armor and staining it. His vision was blurred as he stared at her gently. He gathered up the strength to speak again. "I trust you to do what you need to do. And . . . you need to leave me here."
"Listen to me, you're going to be fine!" Staxim
"It's not worth it, Starr," he said between ragged breaths. "I'm a liability. You have to keep going."
Daxim moved his hand from the wound in his side and took hers, staining her armor blue. "Just leave me here," he pleaded. "Like you said, I'll be fine."
You're so in love with Starr!
Zella had gotten his attention with that sentence so quickly he'd almost dropped his tools. They were working on some standard repairs she'd brought to his attention but he'd insisted he supervised. He cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I don't know what you're talking about . . . "
"Oh come on," she said with a grin, "You've been talking about her this whole time."
He looked back at her with surprise. "Oh. I guess I have . . . " He hesitated. Love? He wasn't sure. Of course, he thought she was the most attractive squishy human he'd ever laid eyes on and he wanted only to protect her and oh dear spirits I'm in love with her.
"Let's get back to work."

"I was afraid you don't care about me." Staxim!
He looked at her with a confused expression, his voice laced with concern. "Of course I care about you, Starr," he said steadily. "I always have. If I hadn't cared about you from the moment I saw you, I wouldn't have helped you with those Batarians. I felt . . . connected to you."
"Can you feel it kicking?" (Staxim... Bophie def incoming tho)
He had been hesitant to touch her stomach since she was pregnant. Starr laughed off his concerns every time he hesitated, saying he was overreacting. But Daxim was the epitome of overprotective and worried. His talons could slice through skin easily. He'd never hurt Starr in all the time they'd been together. But one slip and . . . he couldn't even think about it.
Her laugh tinkled in the air like bells. "Come on you big scared dinosaur," she said, taking his wrist to guide his hand. "Place it right here. I promise you won't regret it."
"Okay," he said cautiously, placing his hand softly against her large stomach. He jumped for a moment when he felt something brush up against the palm of his hand and Starr laughed.
Starr's hand loosened from around his wrist. "Can you feel it kicking?" His surprised look up at her answered her question without words.
"I'm pregnant and it's NOT yours." Starr to Dax. (cause come on I totally see her being a little shit and teasing him about that.)
He'd learned to deal with her odd sense of humor over the time they'd been together, but it was still awkward territory, especially now that Starr was pregnant. Dax let out a small laugh anyway, shaking his head.
"I know it's not mine," he said with a wry smile, "It's ours. And I wouldn't have it any other way."
